  2. IDEA 2

    Five books teach different lessons

The Panchatantra is arranged in five books, each with a main story and many smaller stories nested inside it. Together they cover friendship, conflict, war, loss and the dangers of acting without thinking.

  3. IDEA 3

    Jealous advisers can break friendships

In the first book, two jackals, Karataka and Damanaka, scheme to break the friendship between a lion king and a bull. The story shows how flattery and gossip can destroy trust between friends.
