Procrastinate on Purpose

  1. IDEA 1

    Multipliers create more time

Vaden distinguishes ordinary time managers from multipliers. Multipliers spend time on things today that give them more time tomorrow, such as building a system once instead of repeating a task forever.

  2. IDEA 2

    Measure tasks by significance

Besides urgency and importance, Vaden adds significance: how long something will matter. His significance calculation asks how much time a task takes multiplied by how often it repeats, guiding where effort pays off over the long run.

  3. IDEA 3

Run tasks through the Focus Funnel

The book's central tool is the Focus Funnel. Each task is tested in order: can it be eliminated, automated, delegated or deliberately delayed? Only what passes through all four becomes something you concentrate on now.
