8 key ideas, each explained in our own words.

The 5 AM Club

  1. IDEA 1

The lessons come as a fable

Sharma teaches through a fable: a struggling artist and an entrepreneur meet an eccentric billionaire mentor after a talk by a speaker called the Spellbinder. Across their travels together, the mentor explains the early-rising philosophy one lesson at a time.

  2. IDEA 2

    Own the Victory Hour

The book calls the hour from five to six in the morning the Victory Hour. Before the world wakes up and distractions arrive, you have quiet time to work on yourself, and Sharma believes this head start shapes the rest of the day.

  3. IDEA 3

    Split the hour with 20/20/20

The central method divides the Victory Hour into three twenty-minute blocks. First comes vigorous exercise, then reflection through journaling, planning or meditation, and finally growth through reading or learning. Each block feeds a different part of you.
