Nozick: Liberty and Entitlement

IDEA 1
Entitlement theory
Nozick argued that a distribution is just if it came from fair acquisition and voluntary transfers. Justice is about history, not patterns.
IDEA 2
The minimal state
He defended a state limited to protecting rights and enforcing contracts. Anything more, he argued, risks violating liberty.
IDEA 3
The experience machine
Would you plug into a machine giving perfect pleasant experiences? Most would not, suggesting we value reality and achievement, not just feelings.
