Rich Dad Poor Dad
- IDEA 1
Two fathers taught different lessons
Kiyosaki contrasts the advice of his own father, an educated government employee he calls Poor Dad, with that of his friend's father, a businessman he calls Rich Dad. He presents their different attitudes to money as the core lesson of the book.
- IDEA 2
Learn skills rather than chase pay
Kiyosaki describes Rich Dad's view that the rich do not work for money but make money work for them. He encouraged learning skills rather than chasing salaries. In his view, skills last longer than a salary.
- IDEA 3
Financial literacy matters
Kiyosaki argues that schools do not teach financial literacy, the ability to understand money. He sees this gap as a reason many people struggle. Without it, he says, even people with high incomes can stay short of money.
