   Good advice told through stories

The Hitopadesha, meaning beneficial advice, is a collection of fables compiled by Narayana. It draws on the Panchatantra but rearranges and adds stories to teach practical wisdom and good conduct.

2. IDEA 2

A king seeks wisdom for sons

King Sudarshana of Pataliputra worries that his sons lack learning and good sense. He entrusts them to the wise teacher Vishnu Sharma, who teaches through entertaining animal stories. Learning is to be made enjoyable.

3. IDEA 3

   Friends are worth gaining

The first book is about winning friends. A flock of pigeons trapped in a hunter's net escapes by flying together, and a mouse frees them by chewing the net, showing the power of cooperation and loyal friends.
