The Challenger Sale
- IDEA 1
Top sellers challenge customers
Dixon and Adamson studied thousands of sales representatives and grouped them into five profiles: hard workers, relationship builders, lone wolves, reactive problem solvers and challengers. They found that challengers were most likely to be star performers in complex sales.
- IDEA 2
Challengers teach customers
Challengers teach customers something new about their own business, offering insights they had not considered. This builds credibility. Customers listen more to a seller who helps them see their own business in a new way.
- IDEA 3
Tailor the message
Challengers tailor their message to each customer's priorities and role. One message does not fit all. A finance head and an operations head care about different things, so the same words will not work for both.
