The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership
- IDEA 1
Leadership sets a lid
Maxwell's Law of the Lid states that a person's leadership ability limits how effective they can be. Raising your leadership ability raises the ceiling on what you and your organisation can achieve.
- IDEA 2
Leadership is influence
Maxwell's Law of Influence states that leadership is about influence, not title. People follow those they trust. In Maxwell's view, a person can hold a position yet have no real leadership if others do not choose to follow.
- IDEA 3
Leaders grow over time
The Law of Process holds that leadership develops daily over time, not in a single day. Growth is gradual. In Maxwell's view, leaders improve through small steps each day, such as reading, learning and practising, and not through a single event.
