Make Time
- IDEA 1
Two default forces eat your day
The authors name two traps: the Busy Bandwagon, the culture of full calendars and endless inboxes, and Infinity Pools, apps and feeds that refill forever. Both are defaults built into modern life, so escaping them means changing your setup rather than trusting willpower.
- IDEA 2
Pick one Highlight every day
Each day, choose a single activity you want to make time for, called the Highlight. It can be the most urgent task, the most satisfying one, or simply the most joyful. One clear choice gives the day a centre, instead of a scattered list of demands.
- IDEA 3
Put your Highlight on the calendar
A Highlight only happens if it has a protected slot, so the authors suggest blocking time for it like a meeting. They also suggest noticing when your energy is best and placing the Highlight there, rather than squeezing it into leftover minutes.
