    Honest work, sharing, remembrance

    Nanak's teaching rests on earning honestly, sharing with others and keeping the divine in mind. Ethics is lived in daily work, not withdrawn from it.

    Langar: the common kitchen

    Everyone sits together to eat in the Sikh community kitchen, regardless of caste, religion or status. Shared meals are a practical way to break down hierarchy.

  3. IDEA 3

    Equality of women and all castes

    Nanak rejected caste distinctions and spoke for the dignity of women. Spiritual equality had social consequences.
