  1. IDEA 1

A startup story teaches the method

Wodtke tells the story of Hanna and Jack, founders of a struggling tea company. Their troubles show how a team can work hard yet fail because it lacks focus. Effort alone is not enough.

  2. IDEA 2

    OKRs combine aims and measures

Wodtke explains Objectives and Key Results. The objective is an inspiring, qualitative goal, while key results are measurable outcomes that show whether the objective has been reached. Both parts are needed.

  3. IDEA 3

Choose one objective at a time

Wodtke recommends a single company objective for a quarter, with a few key results. Too many goals spread attention thinly and make it hard to achieve any of them. Focus is the whole point.
