Ambedkar: Equality and Constitutional Morality

  1. IDEA 1

    Constitutional morality

Ambedkar argued that a constitution works only if leaders and citizens respect its spirit, not just its words. Institutions need a culture of restraint, fair process and respect for dissent to survive.

  2. IDEA 2

    Political and social democracy

He warned that one person, one vote means little if society stays deeply unequal. Political equality must be matched by social and economic equality, or democracy rests on a contradiction.

  3. IDEA 3

    Educate, organise, agitate

Ambedkar saw education as the first step to dignity for the excluded, followed by collective organisation and peaceful struggle. Empowerment comes from within a community, not only from charity outside it.
